How much does social media management cost in India? What you pay for, and how to compare
What decides the price of social media management in India: posts, platforms, design, video, ads, reporting and GST, the costs people miss, and the questions to ask before you pay.

Ask five people what social media management costs and you will hear five very different numbers. That is not because someone is lying. “Social media management” can mean three posts a month made from templates, or a full team that plans, shoots, writes, designs, posts, answers every message and runs paid ads. The price follows the work.
This guide explains what you are paying for, the costs people forget to ask about, and how to compare quotes fairly.
1. What decides the price
- How many posts, and of what kind. A single picture with a caption takes far less work than a carousel, and a carousel far less than a filmed reel. Ask how many of each you get.
- How many platforms. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and your Google Business Profile each need their own format and size. Posting the same thing everywhere is cheaper, and it usually shows.
- Design and photography. Templates are cheap; custom designs cost more; a photo or video shoot at your premises costs more again.
- Replies and enquiries. Answering comments and messages every day is real work. Some packages include it, many do not.
- Paid ads. Planning, setting up and watching ads on Meta or Google is usually a separate line, on top of the ad spend itself.
- Reports and meetings. A monthly report and a call take time; ask what the report contains.
- Languages. Posts in English and Kannada, Hindi or Tamil take more work than one language.
- Rules in your field. Clinics, hospitals, finance and education have advertising rules. Someone has to check every post against them.
2. The costs people forget
- Ad spend. The money Meta or Google charge to show your ads is not part of the management fee. If a quote says “₹15,000 including ads”, ask how much of it actually reaches Meta or Google.
- GST. Marketing services carry 18% GST in India. Compare prices on the same basis.
- Extra rounds of changes. Some packages include one or two revisions per post; more cost extra.
- Shoots and stock pictures. Ask who pays for the photographer or for paid stock images.
- Your own time. Approvals, sending photos and answering questions take time on your side too. A clear approval process keeps it small.
3. Four ways to get it done
Do it yourself
No fee, full control, and nobody knows your business better. The cost is hours every week, and it is the first thing that slips when the shop or clinic gets busy. Our guides on planning a month of posts and Instagram for small businesses help if you go this way.
A freelancer
Often the most affordable paid option, and good when you find someone reliable. Check what happens when they are ill or busy, and who answers your customers’ messages.
An agency
A team with design, writing and ads skills, regular reports and someone accountable. It costs more, and the quality depends on who in the agency actually works on your account.
An AI-assisted service
Software that drafts the posts, pictures, replies and reports, with you, or a team, approving everything before it goes out. It suits businesses that want a steady flow of content and fast replies without a full agency fee. Check that nothing is posted without your approval, and that you can see the real numbers.
4. Questions to ask before you pay
- How many posts a month, of which kinds, on which platforms?
- Who writes them, who designs them, and who checks them before they go out?
- Do I approve every post first?
- Do you answer comments and messages, and how quickly?
- Is ad spend included, and if so, how much of my money reaches Meta or Google?
- Is the price before or after GST?
- What does the monthly report show, and can I see the numbers myself any time?
- Who owns the pictures and the accounts if we stop working together?
- What is the notice period?
Be careful with anyone who promises a fixed number of followers, a first-page ranking or a guaranteed number of leads. Nobody controls those, and bought followers do not buy from you.
5. What Baila Lento costs
So that you can compare, here are our own prices. They are monthly, before 18% GST, and the ad spend you choose to run on Meta or Google is paid separately.
- Solo, ₹2,999 a month: one business, 40 requests a month, all specialist roles, draft review and reports.
- Team, ₹9,999 a month: up to three businesses, 150 requests a month, a shared approval inbox and roles for your team.
- Agency, ₹29,999 a month: up to ten client businesses, 400 requests a month, client reviewer access and consolidated reports. Each extra client is ₹2,499 a month.
A request is one piece of work, such as a post with its picture options, a carousel, a campaign plan or a report. Nothing is posted until you approve it. You can start with a 14-day trial; see the pricing page for the details.
Questions people ask
Is ad spend included in a social media management fee?
Usually not. The fee pays for the work: planning, writing, design, posting, replies and reports. The money that Facebook, Instagram or Google charge to show your ads is separate and is paid to them, either on your own card or through the agency. Always ask which one a quote means.
Do I pay GST on social media management in India?
Yes. Marketing services are charged 18% GST in India. A quote of ₹10,000 a month is ₹11,800 once GST is added, so check whether a price is before or after GST when you compare.
How many posts a month does a small business need?
Enough to keep a steady rhythm you can afford for months, not a burst. For many local businesses that is two to four posts a week on their main platform, a few stories, and quick replies to messages. Consistency matters more than volume.
Is it cheaper to do it myself?
In money, yes; in time, often not. Posting yourself costs nothing but hours each week, and replies tend to slip when the business is busy. Many owners keep the photos and the final say, and hand the planning, writing, design and posting to someone else.
What should a monthly report show?
Numbers that are close to sales: people reached in your area, profile visits, link taps, calls, messages and enquiries, and what will change next month. Likes alone tell you little.
